Ventura Future 2019, BASE Milano, Via Bergognone 34, Milano, Italy
An installation that is performative in character and based on the collaboration of the studios of Design, Illustration, Glass, and Fashion. The central theme of the installation is the relationship between hand crafted-labour and mechanical, digital, and robotic production. The installation, in the Italian language represents a kind of alchemic laboratory “Studiolo Robotico”, it is reminiscent of the almost century from the invention of the word ROBOT, used for the first time in 1920 by (writer, journalist, critic, and philosopher) Karel Čapek in his science-fiction drama R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots). The main object displayed will be a robotic portrait of the studio, which seemingly works on a highly automatised basis, but in reality, young illustrators control it with their own creative hands. Studiolo Robotico R.U.R will also present a performance titled “Birth of the Future Behind Glass“. Its concept connects with the craftsmanship of traditional manual glass cutting methods, combining it with robotic interventions of contemporary times.
